Deranged is a South Korean science fiction thriller starring Kim Myung-min, Kim Dong-wan, Moon Jeong-hee, and Lee Ha Nui. It is Korea’s first film about a contagious epidemic, directed by Park Jung-woo, and produced by Lim Ji-young and Oz One Film. Distributed by CJ E&M, it was released on July 5, with a duration of 109 minutes.

DERANGED SYNOPSIS

Jae-hyuk (Kim Myung-min) is a former professor, with a Ph.D. in biochemistry, but is working as a pharmaceutical sales representative after losing his savings and his job due to a bad investment in the stock market on the advice of his younger brother. . When a series of corpses are found floating in the Han River, people are shocked to discover that the deaths are related to a fatal outbreak of an infectious mutant virus of nematomorphic parasites, called Yeongasi, capable of controlling the human mind. The symptoms are: increased appetite without gaining appropriate weight and excessive thirst when the worms have matured and are about to reproduce. Afterwards, the infected jump into the river to let the worms out of their body. As the authorities seek to find a cure, Jae-hyuk and his brother Jae-pil (Kim Dong-wan), a detective, who feels guilty about losing Jae-hyuk’s money in the stock market, fight to save their relatives when they begin to show symptoms similar to those of the infected.
