On April 2, Ilgan Sports reported that Im Soo Jung had been cast as the lead for the upcoming drama “Melancholia” (literal title).

“Melancholia” is described as a drama about a terrible scandal that sweeps over a prestigious private high school in Gangnam. The scandal involves a sexual relationship between students and teachers, as well as the corruption that follows.

According to Ilgan Sports’ report, Im Soo Jung has been cast in the role of Ji Yoon Soo, a math teacher. She appears good-natured on the outside with her refreshing smile and youthful demeanor, but she is very tenacious and stubborn once she makes up her mind about something. She becomes swept up in a scandal after she reunites with one of her former students, who was a minor when they first met and has now become an adult.

Later, Im Soo Jung’s agency, King Kong by Starship, stated to Newsen, “Im Soo Jung is in positive talks for the casting offer from the new drama ‘Melancholia.'”

If she accepts, this will be the actress’s first drama in two years. She last appeared in the 2019 drama “Search: WWW.”

Im Soo Jung (born July 11, 1979) is a South Korean actress. After modeling for teen magazines, Im made her acting breakthrough in Kim Jee Woon's horror film A Tale of Two Sisters (2003), followed by the popular television drama I'm Sorry, I Love You (2004). She has since appeared in numerous films, notably Park Chan-wook's I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK (2006), Hur Jin-ho's Happiness (2007), Lee Yoon-ki's Come Rain, Come Shine (2011), and Min Kyu-dong's All About My Wife, for which she won Best Actress at the 33rd Blue Dragon Film Awards.
