In response to allegations that Lee Seung Gi hasn’t been paid for any music releases over the past 18 years, Hook Entertainment has issued a statement.

On November 21, Dispatch revealed that Lee Seung Gi released 27 albums and 137 songs following his debut in June 2004 with his first studio album, but that the musician did not get any of his earnings. Following this, Dispatch shared a profit breakdown by channel, revealing that Lee Seung Gi made 9.6 billion won ($7,069,000) in song sales between October 2009 and September 2022. Additionally, they said that five years’ worth of statements, spanning from June 2004 to August 2009, was missing, bringing the total sum that is thought to have been paid to distributors by Hook Entertainment to over 10 billion won (about $7,364,400).

Regardless of whether the negative news reports about me and our organization are real, I am so embarrassed by them.

I’m embarrassed and remorseful because everything is the result of my carelessness and lack of discretion. It is reasonable to specifically confirm the veracity of the stories that are circulating and being covered by the press, but as we stated in our previous press release, we ask for your patience as we organize to fact-check and ask that you do not release a statement of our position as it may be subject to legal action.

In the future, as soon as it is proven which legal issues Hook Entertainment or I must handle, we will accept full responsibility and take no backward steps.

The stars of our agency will continue to receive entertainment promotions, and Hook Entertainment and I will do everything in our power to prevent this from happening. We will also take further precautions to ensure that there are no more worrying situations.

Thank you.”

It was discovered earlier this month that Lee Seung Gi had sent a certification of contents to his company Hook Entertainment, requesting full payment disclosure. Due to recent suspicions of executive embezzlement, the Severe Crime Investigation Division of the National Police Agency also recently confiscated and searched the agency’s office building.
