EXO has a new “million-seller” album under their belts! Congratulations to this boy group and their fans! Are you surprised by this?
EXO’s long-awaited special album “DON’T FIGHT THE FEELING” was released on June 7 at 6 p.m. KST.
On June 14, SM Entertainment revealed that 1,089,681 copies of the album were sold by June 13, making it a “million seller” album.
“DON’T FIGHT THE FEELING” is the seventh EP by South Korean–Chinese boy band EXO, through SM Entertainment, marketed as a special release. It marks their first new material since their 2019 studio album “Obsession” and features the return of members Xiumin, Lay, and D.O. since Don’t Mess Up My Tempo (2018). The physical edition was released in a number of versions, including two photobook versions, a jewel case version, and an Expansion version featuring one of six participating members (Baekhyun, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, Sehun, or Xiumin) on the cover.
“DON’T FIGHT THE FEELING” includes five tracks, including the title track, which was described as a dance song with a “cheerful rhythm”. The EP does not include contributions from either Chen or Suho, who are currently completing their mandatory military service. Chanyeol and Baekhyun participated in the recording of the material before enlisting in May 2021, meaning they will not appear in promotional activities. Member Lay returned as part of the group’s comeback, appearing in promotional photoshoots and the music video for the title track
EXO’s first studio album “XOXO” in 2013 was the first album by any artist to sell a million copies since 2001. “DON’T FIGHT THE FEELING,” which dominated iTunes Top Albums charts in 87 countries after its release, is now their sixth album to earn the “million-seller” status. The special album also ranked No. 1 on the weekly album charts on Hanteo Chart and Synnara Records.
